Dot's Log Book FOUR

WARTIME FLYING

Starts in February 1943, when Dot was assigned to instruct Navy Cadets, some of whom later flew off the US carrier Independence. Her assignment was to conduct primary training in Portales New Mexico, teaching three Navy V-5 classes (43-F, G, and H), and then being reassigned on to Sweetwater Texas where she instructed WASP trainees in classes (43-W8-Flt2, 44-W2-flt2, 44-W4-flt2) of WASP before resigning her job on January 30, 1944 to join the WASP outright.

In the WASP, Dot was originally placed in class 44-7, and, because she had been an instructor, was moved to graduate with Class 44-5.
